well for thousands of years people didnt know how to cook and food tastes a lot different if its not cooked.....take for example veggies...raw they are quite tastey, yet cook them and some turn into a bland tasteless mass (ok that was my moms cooking anyways).....cookie dough---yummy when uncooked, still yummy in a different way when baked.....eggs...hard boiled they dont taste the same as cooked say over easy.............but I digress..

because we dont run out of it. because its infinite rather everything that can run out has a time limit thus your running out of time till that specific time not until the end of time which is infinite.
